FAQ & COMMON QUESTIONS

1. Is it OK to critique your photos?
Yes, I welcome comments and constructive criticism.

2. Do you sell prints?
Yes through gallery shows and by request. The Exhibitions and Events page will show current gallery shows.

3. Can I use some of your photos for my magazine/ video/ album cover/ web site, etc?
Yes, with my permission. I’m open to such ideas. Please email me with details of your plans and we’ll see what we can work out. If using for commercial purposes, please credit me for work “photograph(s) © W.Roland Hamilton 2006 ” used and a link to this site. I am flexible but since this hobby takes some time and effort some financial compensation will be expected.

For those who do not take any precautions then yes to all of the above. Exploring can be very dangerous and requires careful consideration, especially in industrial sites. A little research and preparation can reduce potential problems.

6. Position on vandalism, scavenging or taking souvenirs?
Don’t do it. Collect pictures instead or you will only ruin it for the rest of us.

No thanks. Others may do it but I see it as a pointless risk.

8. Why are there no locations or addresses posted?
Because I would like to see the sites preserved or reused in some way.

9. Why do it?
Because it’s fun and I am a curious person.  There are always interesting places to visit so the intrigue never ceases.

10. Can I link to your site?
Yes, but I insist that my work not be linked to any political ideas or purposes. Almost everything else is OK. Terms of service for linking to silentbuildings.com is explained in the copyright section.

Canon T-70 camera with 28/50mm FD lens, Manfrotto tripod (190XPROB, 055XPROB) and a 804RC2 Professional 3-axis head

Kodak T-MAX (100 ASA), Tri-X (100 ASA), UC (100 ASA), and Illford Pan F (25-50 ASA)
